There’s more than one way to brighten your day in the midst of cold, rainy weather. Sure you can book a trip to Miami, but if you want to save a few hundred, a vibrant new shade of lipstick can do just the trick. And the shade with the most pop? Neon, of course.

How to do the look: Choose a matte lipstick that provides enough moisture for your lips so you don’t have a cracked, dry, caked on look (I like MAC‘s Neon Orange, Fusion Pink, Style Curve, and the Gulabi from the Bollywood line). Line those lips (Sephora carries awesome clear liners that prevent colour bleeding without the horrible obvious lip liner look). And keep your eyes and cheeks simple. A good foundation or tinted moisturizer, concealer as needed, a very subtle dusting of blush if you need it and a few strokes of black mascara and you’re ready to rock a Spring 2011 look in middle of Winter.
Better than a vacay, right? Okay, at least you’ll look hot standing under your umbrella in the rain!
