Chenoa took advantage of the generous gift card from Bombay Brow Bar to get her brows threaded for the first time.

I’ve had my brows threaded for many years now since I live in the Little Punjabi Market. It’s usually a quick in and out of a sketchy-looking salon for a dirt cheap price of $5. What makes Bombay Brow Bar different is that they love what they do, personalize the experience and treat you like a VIP. Their service includes brow gossip, brow shaping, forehead and eyebrow massage, rosewater eye gel application, and brow finishing.

Eyebrow threading involves twisting a piece of thread into a double strand. The double stranded thread is used to pick up a line of hair and then remove it, creating a very clean, precise hairline. It can be used to eliminate a unibrow, raise the arch of the eyebrow, or add shape and definition to the brow. Because it removes hair by the follicle, it is a reasonably long lasting hair removal technique as well. Repeat visits after three to four weeks are standard. Threading is usually more effective and less costly than eye tweezing or waxing.
I was documenting Chenoa’s time at the salon and she had fun chatting with the ladies of Bombay Brow Bar. She came out with beautiful sculpted brows that suited her face and tried the best tasting Chai tea EVER.

Thanks beautiful ladies of Bombay Brow Bar for your generosity and warm smiles!

Today was a fantastic day for me! It started off with booking the day off of work and I couldn’t be more thrilled with that decision; especially as I was feeling bogged down and stressed only a few days ago. I decided to take full advantage of Ben’s afternoon nap, and also of my husbands work from home status, by booking a pedicure for myself just around the block.
This is one of the reasons that I love city living so much! There are a ridiculous amount of pedicure places within a couple of minutes of walking out of my front door. I really quite enjoyed sitting by myself for a full hour and love the colour that I picked out. I sipped a latte and did a little people watching and was overjoyed when I got a text from my husband saying that the boy was still asleep and to keep on going with my outing.

If you remember from this post there are a few things that I like to get down to keep me feeling in order and on top of things. So, besides the pedicure I also went and got my brows done at Bombay Brow Bar here in Yaletown. I’ve had my brows threaded before but I still tear up with each swift thread! I was in and out within 15 minutes and left with perfectly shaped brows and a cup of chai.

Have a lovely weekend!
The soon-to-be bride and groom, Chenoa and Steve, have been busily planning their wedding for the last 6 months. My friend, Chenoa, has pretty much single-handedly organized, designed, and created a lot of the key things for her wedding. Of course the groom helped out too.
Even with all the hard work and DIYness, it’s been a lot of fun and wonderful to see things coming together.
In hopes of alleviating some stress, I’ve been trying to help out. And in the past months, I’ve learned about true generosity, business acumen and networking, and just the magic of wedding bliss.
I tweeted and reached out if businesses were willing to help out with this fun wedding…and the responses have been amazing.
When I contacted Wink Lounge, they responded right away. I was even more surprised when they offered the whole stagette party of 10 with gift certificates. They had them ready for me within a few days and I shelled them out to the girls. I can’t wait to get pretty extensions for my non-existence lashes.

Nicole Marie, probably one of the most prettiest and cutest wedding planner in Vancouver, offered to make the wedding sweeter. She has put together this amazing cute candy buffet for the reception. We met up with her, consulted on theme, which was girlie vintage, and figured out the timing. The candy buffet is going to be very dslr-worthy.
The girls at Bombay Brow Bar are very sweet and friendly. When I went by to grab their generous gift cards, they gave me the best tasting chai tea and we just chatted away. I’m glad their business is doing well. Chenoa actually went by today to do her first eyebrow threading (more about that soon).
I was more than happy when Blo said yes to the bride’s tresses. They’ve been paving the way in providing specialty beauty services and being successful at it. I’ve had my hair done at Blo a few times now and the people are always fun and nice. The bride to be will get her hair done at the salon for the traditional tea ceremony.
My friends at Capone’s also donated a dinner or 2 for the lovebirds to enjoy. It’s a perfect low key place for the two to enjoy. I’m sure they’ll need the R&R over jazz and food after their very hectic wedding.
Thanks again to these lovely folks and businesses for stepping in to help make this wedding a bit more girlie, a bit more fun, and a bit more blissful.
“I got shivers when you touch that way; I’ll make you hot, get all you got, I’ll make you want to say JAI HO!” … When you first walk into Yaletown’s Bombay Brow Bar it’s impossible not to have that catchy Pussycat Dolls song from two winters past pop back into your head. But there’s no slumming it here – with plush and tasteful Indian décor done up in shades of gold and magenta, in addition to the luxurious pampering services offered, you’ll feel right at the top of the caste system. Bombay Brow Bar specializes in everything eyebrows – threading, waxing, tinting, sculpting and soothing. You will most definitely get shivers when they touch that way (by that I mean moulding your brows to perfection. Not … yeah.), but with Bollywood music videos blasting in the background and a soothing cup of Chai tea at your side you will be completely distracted from any discomfort. The salon’s unique set-up (four chairs in a single room) is also a welcome change from the operation-room-feel of muted, high-end spas – at Bombay you can recline next to your best friend and gab away while they pluck away.
The salon is a huge advocator of the benefits of threading over waxing, but the sting factor of threading can be a bit of an unpleasant surprise for some, especially for first-timers, so do brace yourself. (And make sure to pull your skin as tight as possible to cut down on the pain.) Contrary to what is said, there is minor pain with threading (then again if you’re like Gisele Bundchen with her supersonic birthing abilities … maybe you know no pain), but if you’re going to thread, thread here. For $23 select their Bombshell Brows option and leave fifteen minutes later with Kim Kardashian-worthy brows and a pleasantly numb forehead from their Indian facial massage and rosewater eye gel application. Before you exit, be sure to also ask for their complimentary make-up touch up so that you don’t head down Mainland looking like Splotchy McSplotcherson.
Now, if only there was a place to get instant Nicole Scherzinger abs. Damn.

With Mothers Day only a couple days away we thought we would give you some great gift ideas if you’re still looking for the perfect present.
If you haven’t purchased a ‘Love Shop’ scarf for yourself yet then you may need to pick two up so you and your mom can have matching ones! Find a huge selection at Boudoir Boutique in Yaletown (right across from Society on Hamilton & Davie)
I went to
Bombay Brow Bar last week (which was very long overdue) and fell in love with threading. The atmosphere, chai tea, and wonderful ladies working there make the experience every minute worth your while.
Bombay Brow Bar is located on Mainland St. between Nelson & Helmcken.
Another favourite of OS’ are the
I Love My Muff products. The products are all natural for the best care down there & come in the cutest packaging. You can find the products at either
Lynn Steven in Gas town or
Beauty Mark in Yaletown.
I will be missing my mom this Mother’s Day as she is away in Spain (tough life) but will be thinking about her all day. Her much loved perfume as is mine is Miss Dior Cherie. It’s sweet, floral, fruity scent always lifts my spirits & puts a smile on my face. It’s the perfect perfume and sure to be a new must have.
The last must have for this Mother’s Day is
Butter London nail polish. It’s Formaldehyde, Toluene, & DPB free and just so happens it comes in all the hottest colours too! Butter London also has an amazing line of hand & foot care products – my top picks being their ‘Stiletto Stick’ & ‘Silk Stockings’ finishing gel. You can find a wide range of all the products at again
Beauty Mark in Yaletown. If you’re in the Gastown area
Ishara also carries the products.
And of course with the weather forecast saying ‘high of 18′ on Sunday where else would you rather be than Vancouver’s favourite patio…
Glowbal Grill & Satay Bar. Finish or start your day off right by treating mom to a mimosa & brunch or a glass of wine & dinner.
OS wishes everyone a beautiful day. Take time away from your busy schedule to sit down and enjoy your mom’s company. Sometimes life gets so busy & there never seems to be enough hours in the day that we forget to enjoy life’s simplest things or tell the people closest to us how much we love them.
With Love,
Jillian
